Aviation career mainly deals with the flying operations (pilots), air crew (air hostesses), air traffic management, airline customer support, cargo marketing and management, ticket reservation, cargo reservations and cockpit resource management.
Aviation industry is rapidly expanding due to privatisation and this privations in aviation industry has increased investment. Private airlines in India account for around 75% share of the domestic aviation market. Some aviation careers require a college degree while others may require a diploma. A solid background in math and science or some years of technical training either on the job or through technical schools is essential. The eligibility for technical courses 12th std with Physics, Chemistry and Maths. All employees, regardless of their jobs, are given some degree of on-the-job training. Pilots, cabin crew and air traffic controllers also need to have a high level of concentration and focus as there is a lot of minute observation and immediate response required. There is a great responsibility as the lives of passengers depends on proper functioning of aeroplane.

- Flight Operations Pilot: Job Requirements: These vary from employer to employer, 1,000 hours of fixed-wing flying time, completion of schooling to the university entrance level. Additional language(s) are preferred.
- Maintenance Technician: Play role in the maintenance of aircraft, especially those aircraft used in an airline. It requires specialized technical training.
- Air Transport Ramp attendant: They operate ramp-servicing vehicles and equipment, groom the aircraft while it is on the ground, handle cargo and baggage and perform other ground support duties at airports.

- Mumbai University (www.mu.ac.in) offers 3 year B.Sc. course in aviation. The course is being conducted by the Institute of Aviation and Aviation Safety (IAAS). This course also trains students to be pilots and thus also offers commercial pilot's licenses (CPL) if one wishes to become a pilot.
The fees for aviation courses are quite high. However, student loans are easily available and the loan can be easily repaid off in few months' time after one gets a job in aviation industry.
